Praise and Prayer – 8/16

National Day of Prayer

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.” Ps. 105:1 (NIV)

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 (ESV)

In essence, the point of this ministry is about communication. It is about teaching one another to speak and live out God’s message in ways that will allow others to see the face of Christ. One of the things I have noticed in myself is my communication with others fails sometimes, especially when I fail to maintain my communication with God. Particularly in balancing God’s truth with God’s love, or His justice with His mercy, our message must be grounded in a constant communication with God. The main way we communicate with Him is through prayer, and one way to communicate His glory to the world is through our praise for the things He has done for us. This category is for that purpose, and I hope you will join me in lifting prayers and praises here. You can leave them in the comments, you can message me privately if it isn’t something you wish to share out loud, or if it’s something your really want to bring to folks attention, please feel free to message me with a request to post it as a separate post.

Daddy, You have moved in many small ways this past week. Thank you for opportunities to spend time with family and friends, the wonderful beginning of our next adult Bible study, Thanks for the help with the cat situation, and providing for the needs of Your children. Thank you for the amazing answer to prayers in our congregation with the appointment of our new pastor and the strengthening of the peace and grace of Your Spirit. And tonight, I thank you personally for Your guidance and direction, even on the days it is not what I want to hear. I am so blessed by the assurance and experience that Your way is always better and Your timing is always perfect. We ask tonight that You would continue to provide and protect us. Give us Your strength and courage to live as Your children boldly in the world. Teach us the balance between that boldness and the humility of Spirit that will allow us to reach others with Your message of repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation. We are still flawed Daddy, and we ask Your forgiveness for anything we have done or not done today that was outside Your will for us. Illuminate our sins for us so that we will not do them again, and draw us closer to You as You work in and through us. Thank you Daddy, for being our God and for making us Your children. In Jesus Name…

Update: Daddy, I lift Corey to Your loving comfort tonight. Pour out Your Spirit, Your healing and peace. In the Name of Christ, as You commanded, I lift this plea, Amen.
